New Studio Space for Trev Wilson Photography – Exciting Times Ahead :-)))

After searching for what seems like an age for a suitable studio space to cope with our increasing workload, client requests and not forgetting my own projects to further my photographic education, the search finally ended on Friday.

This new facility really is going to take Trev Wilson Photography to a whole new level of customer service and needs.  We can offer everything from newborn shoots, family groups through to model portfolio work.  Models if you have a idea or project your thinking about give us a call, we have the space to built a set to your specification.

2012 has been fantastic so far for TWP, we became Licentiate qualified with the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers, we gained Qualified status in both Weddings and Portraits with the Guild of Photographers (one of only ten photographers to hold both qualifications with the Guild).  The set building is already under way for my Associate qualification panel, with an amazing model and make up artist already on board for that project.  All will be revealed in the future for that one, so keep checking back because this is where it’ll be published first.

Of course the motivation & drive for all of this would not be possible without  the mentoring, teaching skills and business support of all at Team McGillicuddy, in my opinion the UK’s number one teaching & mentoring scheme.

It is very difficult to put into words how excited I am about the future of Trev Wilson Photography.

The images below are of the three studios, yes thats not a typo, three fully equipped studios not to mention the dedicated make up artist area the model changing area and kitchen area. (Images courtesy of Vipimages.co.uk)

Education, You Just Can’t Beat It…

As the title says its all about learning your craft and when it comes to improving your art it pays to learn from the best and being mentored by Damian Mcgillicuddy certainly lives up to those expectations. The process of activating the shutter really is the final action to capture a image.  The image should have been visualised long before you get to that point.  The image is created in the mind of the photographer.  What message I want to portray ? What style of image is it ? What type of lighting does the image require ?  There is no short cut or quick fix to acquiring this type of skill and knowledge.  Its a learning curve of skill that must be built brick by brick and developed over time.  One of the most valuable aspects of the learning curve is the critique.  It is vital and should never be underestimated the need to have the correct and not so correct elements pointed out to you so you can move forward and improve with your art.

The two images below of the fabulous Paula Vickers show exact process of marrying up the correct lighting technique and style to the suit the theme.

It was an informative and useful session wasn’t it!

Fantastic Start to 2012 with Carla & Chris

I could not have asked for a better start to our 2012 wedding season.  A super couple in Carla & Chris, great family & guests, amazing location in Knowsley Hall and the weather for March could not have been better.  I had been really looking forward to this day from Carla and Chris’s pre wedding shoot which also took place at Knowsley Hall.   The Hall is the permanent residence of Lord and Lady Derby and is not open to the public so the opportunity to photograph their not once but twice was a real treat.  Thank you so much for giving me that chance Carla & Chris:-)

A lot of photographers have a hang up about letting couples get involved in the creative process of the wedding day photography and then the album design.  At TWP we are not like any other photographers, I involve you from the very first meeting in discussing what you like about our images, because lets face you have viewed our galleries and blog and then picked up the phone to arrange a meeting.  Its a creative collaboration from the very start.  Carla and Chris have chosen a beautiful Venice Album, hand built in Italy from the very finest materials and printed to the highest quality.  I am really looking forward to this album arriving and then presenting it to Carla & Chris to see their first reactions on opening it.

Once again thank you so much for the opportunity to spend time with you both and your great family & friends on your wedding day.  Here is a small selection of my favourites from the day.

Kool Kidz Shoot with Charlie.

A recent Kool Kidz Portrait session with Charlie.  Charlie was a real poser loving every minute of the session.  The images look fantastic when printed large or printed on canvas.

Appointments for Kool Kidz shoot are being snapped up fast so why not book a session now for during the school summer holidays and save £50 off the session fee:-)))

Another Professional Qualification for Trev Wilson Photography

Continuing on from my recent professional qualification in gaining “Qualified” status with the Guild of Photographers in wedding photography I am extremely proud to announce a further successful panel of portrait images has gained “Licentiate” with the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers.

Quote: ”We are delighted to inform you that the images submitted have accepted as being of a professional standard and demonstrates your ability to create images of excellence and awarded Licentiate of The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers”
